Gallium: it melts in your hand but it attacks other metals

gallium-melting-metal

This might be one of the rarest elements on earth. Galium is a metal with an ultra low melting point of just 29.76 °C and the ability to attack most of the other metals by diffusing into their metal lattice greatly and weakening their structure.

In 1871, the existence of gallium was first predicted by Russian chemist Dmitri Mendeleev, who named it “eka-aluminium” on the basis of its position in the periodic table. He also predicted several properties of the element, which correspond closely to real gallium properties, such as density, melting point, oxide character and bonding in chloride.

Elemental gallium is not found in nature, but it is easily obtained by smelting. Very pure gallium metal has a brilliant silvery color and its solid metal fractures like glass. Gallium easily alloys with many metals, and is used in small quantities as a plutonium-gallium alloy in the plutonium cores of nuclear bombs, to help stabilize the plutonium crystal structure.

This is the coolest thing that I have seen in my whole life. It makes me feel like I’m Magneto, controlling the metal properties. I’m really shocked by it. You should really check it out.

Is there life in other planets?

universe

According to a new analysis by the NASA’s Kepler telescope “one in every five sun like stars are habitable” because they are really similar in size to the earth. Furthermore, other studies show that it is possible to find water in the surface of any rocky planet. In fact, there is an estimate that the nearest planet with water could be 12 light years away, but still it is a far distant. So, it cannot be studied or analyzed by scientists.

Scientists also found out that almost 22 percent of stars are like own (the earth). This information is helpful for future experiment and search for more. NASA’s telescope is not longer in use, but it worked for three years. On the other hand, many others scientists said that these studies are a step forward to find new life in other planets.

This telescope is a really good invention that can help scientists to find more evidence and new things that we can’t even imagine about other planets. Also, I think that even if there is life in other distant planets, it is almost impossible to do further studies because it is too far away and we will never actually know if there is any life.

Should we fear an environmental war?

21SINO-HARBIN01-blog480

With a nearby winter coming soon, the city of Harbin is going through a very big problem; they can’t see! With only 10 meters of visibility the citizens need to stay home because highways, airports and schools have been closed.

This city nearby the Russian frontier has reached the highest amount of air pollution and people starting to get sick. The local people describe this as a “heavy fog” that don’t let you see the person with which you are talking, “You can’t see your own fingers in front of you.”

This problem becomes even more difficult because many people start going to the hospitals with respiratory problems.

The environmental officers started to make inspections on farms, factory smokestacks and vehicle emissions to try to stop the air pollution. The government is waiting the local weather results; expecting if rain comes before winter to clean the air.

This problem is getting worst and the city of Harbin has become the center of attention.  An Internet user said “If you think this is the movie set for ‘Silent Hill,’ ‘Resident Evil’ or ‘The Walking Dead,’ you are wrong — this is Harbin.

How is possible that in one of the most important countries in the world with one of the highest amount of technology, could happen this kind of problem? In my opinion, China is getting sick of technology and business, and they’re letting the environment collapse and put many lives in danger. If the rest of the world were to assume China’s environmental point of view, we will have to fight in an environmental war.

The antenna doesn’t count

willis-tower-590x829

This article talks about the World Trade Center, which was ruled as the tallest building in the U.S.A. This has created a big polemic in Chicago, because the tallest building used to be the Willis Tower. People in Chicago say that the roof of the World Trade Center was 100 feet lower than the Chicago’s tower. It is only taller because of the antenna.

Also the people of Chicago are saying: “At the Willis Tower, you have a panoramic view that is unmatched. You can’t get a view like that from an antenna.” So what they’re saying is that the antenna is useless. On the other hand, the argument of the New York people is that the antenna gets better audio.

I think that the antenna does not have anything to do with the height of the building. Also, what the Chicagoans are saying about the view of the roof is a pretty strong argument. In conclusion, I think the Willis building is actually taller than the World Trade Center.

Good news for rape victims

akin

Todd Akin, the Republican senate nominee from Missouri, claimed at an interview in a St. Louis television station, that if a woman was legitimately raped “the female body had ways to try to shut the whole thing down”. And that if, by any case, they didn’t work, and the rape ended up in an unwanted pregnancy, the punishment should be for the rapist an not for the kid (referring to abortion).

In my opinión, this is totally crazy. I bet that if he is not pulling that absurd theory of the female body being able to “shut down” out of his ass, the doctors who support it were probably paid to say it. Just like in the 40s, when they used to affirm that cigarettes weren’t harmful to your health. Plus, in case the victim turns out to be pregnant, even if the rapist is punished, he isn’t going to help the victim with the baby or take care of the child. With this being said, after all, the punishment for the rapist doesn’t really solve the problem of the victim.

But, hey girls, the good news is that the next time a condom breaks, you just need to tell your reproductive system that it was a rape and it will shut the whole thing down. No reason to worry about an unwanted pregnancy.

Zlatan and Cristiano Ronaldo

Ronaldo.Zlatan_crop_north

Ronaldo and Ibrahimovic are two of the best soccer players in the world. They are going to play for a spot in the FIFA World Cup and it is unbelievable that one of this players will miss Brazil next year.

Zlatan plays for Paris Saint Germaine and for Sweden, his country. Zlatan usually does amazing goals and he is the star of both of his teams and one of the best strikers in the world.

Ronaldo plays for Real Madrid and for Portugal, and although his country team has a lot of good players, they don’t play really good together. In less than a few weeks, we will see how to giants will fight each other for what it is just one spot in the most important soccer tournament.

Beyond doubt, both of them are incredible players. Ibrahimovic is, in my opinion, the best middle striker in the moment. But still, Cristiano is now living what I think is the best moment in his entire career. After all, I really believe that Ronaldo deserves to go to the World Cup.

Cristiano Ronaldo to open a museum

1385069690_extras_noticia_foton_7_0

Cristiano Ronaldo Dosantos was born on February the 5th, 1985, in Santo António, Portugal. He is having his best season ever, both at club level and with his national team. In 2008, he won the Ballon d’Or and scored 67 goals in 56 games. Ronaldo also has won two Golden Boots, in 2008 and 2011. He is one of the favorites for the 2013 best player award. As a super star he will open a museum in which he will show all of his individual trophies like the Ballon d’Or and the Golden Boots. The museum will be located in Funchal, the capital of Madeira Islands.

In my opinion, the Cristiano Ronaldo museum should be located in Madrid, because Real Madrid FC is the team where he has played his best soccer. I also think that Cristiano deserves to win again the the Ballon d’Or because he is not only the most complete player in the world and the top sccorer in the LFP Aand the Champions League, but a wonderful person who helps many poor people year by year.

Just one worry

1588

Alan Watts was born in January 1915 and died in November in 1973. He was a philosopher, writer and public speaker. He talks about what, in my opinion, is one of the toughest decisions that we are forced to make in life.

If the purpose of life is being happy, what would you prefer? Earning money and doing something that you hate for the rest of your life? But then, you wouldn’t be doing something that fulfils you.

The other choice is doing something that you love for the rest of your life, but what pays the bills while you live the fantasy? Is it a lack of sense of reality? I don’t think so: I agree with Alan Watts. As he said, if you really like what you are doing, you can eventually master it. And then, you will be able to get a good fee for whatever it is. So don’t worry too much.

Anyways, there is one thing that does worry me: the fact that we’re living in a world that is often pushing us towards the wrong decision.

I recommend you listen to the audio while you read it. It is very touching.

Military technology in Colombia

ejcembaejec

Juan Carlos Pinzon, the defense minister of Colombia, is trying to copy the Israeli system with the purpose of developing military technology in the country. He also said that Colombia has a good military technology but the economy and the situation of the country isn’t the best for the use of our resources in this area. Colombia is helped by the USA with a lot of military equipment since 1996, in the called “Plan Colombia” for the fight against the FARC (Fuerzas armadas revolucionarias de Colombia) that are one of the best equipped guerrillas in the world.

I think that it is very good for the country because our soldiers are one of the best in the world. They are almost every day in the jungle fighting against the illegal groups. If they are equipped with excellent weapons, they will protect us better and it would be more comfortable for them. They will have new weapons that maybe are not as heavy as the ones they have today. The soldiers could have more accuracy, and if they are already good with the old weapons, just imagine what they can do with modern ones.

Dishonest win

270473_heroa

This article talks about the BBVA Lof Spain. Real Madrid, in the previous round of the League, caused controversy since the match was influenced by the referee in favor of the white club. The merengue club made a poor match and Elche, their rival team, with much worse players than the Real Madrid players, played a great match. Elche actually tied the match in the 87 minute after the poor march of the merengue Club. The best player was Cristiano Ronaldo since he made the first goal and the second, which was the goal that generated more controversy. Carlos Sanchez, Elche player, was sure that it was not a penalty but Pepe, from Real Madrid, said that he really was a victim of the foul which produced the penalty.

I’m big fan of Real Madrid but my opinion as a fan is that the club made a poor match and they won the match with help from the referee. Pepe is a great player but he exaggerates in all the matches, and in this one especially made a horror movie because the non-existent foul of Carlos Sanchez. I think that a great player like Pepe doesn’t have to do these things, even if his team is losing the match by 100 goals. He has to act with respect and more when he is playing for an important institution. I was happy because my team won, but it was an incomplete satisfaction because as a fan I know that my team won the match without being honest. It is embarrassing to win like that and more playing against a bad team and you being at the top of the soccer world.

Unfairly shot

This article is about two men in a small town at the south of England who were practicing “parkour”, a new sport which consists in jumping from building to building, staircases, and other urban architecture items in order to move through and among them as fluent as possible.

£££Freerunners-shot-2683538

These two men were climbing a scaffolding next to a building which was under construction, in order to jump from this building to another. When they were doing this one of the workers working in the construction saw them and thought they were thiefs trying to rob the building, which is a shop. The man’s reaction was to get his riffle and shoot them thinking they were going to steal something.

When the two men heard the shots, they asked the worker to stop shooting, but he continued with the certainty they were thieves.

The worker was arrested and taken to court where the judge said his attitude was irresponsible and he should have called the police instead of shooting. The man was given a custodial sentence.

I think this happens in Colombia every day. Here there is a lot violence and the people want to protect their things. The problem is that most of the time, people climbing walls and getting on the roofs of houses are really criminals, robbers who can kill people to get what they want, and many times the people who just want to defend their belonging are sent to jail unfairly.

Island of garbage

Floating-debris-MAIN-2678181

There is a very big island of garbage that is floating on the ocean and is approaching the state of California in the United States. This island of garbage is the result of the tsunami of 2011 in Japan, which devastated several towns and cities. After the tsunami, the water took away houses, cars, boats, and many other things which are now going to the surface of the ocean, and moving with the waves to other places of the world, like California.

Scientist and citizens are worried about the effects this can have in the environment of the west cast in U.S. but there is not much they can do by now until the island of garbage gets to the coast.

Scientists say this island is bigger than Britain and that it weights thousands of tons.

I think this can affect very seriously the North American country. They’re already very polluted with its own garbage and now they are going to get garbage from another continent. However, in this particular case it’s not their fault.

Anti-Nazi propaganda app

hitler-big-lie

“It’s like Shazam, just with more Hitler” –The Daily Dot

One of the problems of the German police is the neo-Nazi propaganda, especially the songs. That’s why all the German legislators are meeting this week to discuss about an app, Shazam, with the purpuse to identify neo-Nazi songs.

This is a clever idea which is going to provide help to the German police. It is really handy and easy to use. But more importantly, it will stop most of the neo-Nazi propaganda, helping the development of a better country.
However, this app might violate laws against audio surveillance. German police and legislators have to think about it before developing it.

Video games are not the problem

violent-video-game

The debate on the prohibition of violent games for minors has caused many discussions.

Though the ERSB system of qualification for games is good, it has not stopped the purchases of this type of games for children.

When in 2003, Gentile and Anderson made this study, their conclution was that all type of violent games cause in one way or another aggressive actions and reactions on young people under 18 years old.

One American doctor assures that this kind of games can distort the way children act and confuses them since the games reward players while doing incorrect acts.

In my opinion, children’s behavior is not only their responsibility, it is also an adults matter. Parents are children’s guide and example, and if they don’t pay attention to the small details, their children can always walk the wrong way. If adults teach children the right way, they can play any kind of game without taking dangerous risks.

How (not) to survive a Zombie Apocalypse

zombie

This article is a very interesting and fun. The article explains the best way to stay alive in a fictitious scenario, as the zombie apocalypse. It also talks about the quickest way to die in it. Obviously this kind of situation is impossible, but the zombie apocalypse is a very interesting topic and is gaining a lot of fame in TV and in films. This made people write books about it and is also inspiring people to read those books.

The zombies became famous in the last decade, but they have been on movies since 1930. The first movie in which a zombie appeared was “White Zombie”. And in all the movies, they always have the same tactics to survive. This article explains why these are the wrong tactics and why at the end of every movie of this genre, people die.

Electronic Entertainment Expo in LA

microsoft-xbox-one-e3-2013,M-X-388329-13

The next year’s E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo), will take place in the LA Convention Center, in Los Angeles, as the one this year. The reason why the Expo will be held in the same city is because it was a complete success, gathering 48,200 game industry professionals, analysts, journalists and retailers from 102 countries, and generating nearly $40 million dollars for the city. The next E3 will be between June 10 and 12.

In my opinion, it will be interesting and exciting to see which games they will release in next year’s second semester and 2015’s first semester. It will be a great time for Nintendo, who will be releasing lots of games in that period of time, but also for the other franchises because of their new consoles’ releases.

Should Justin Bieber be penalized?

url

Last Tuesday, the Canadian singer, Justin Bieber, began his Believer tour in the Colombian capital, Bogota.

In October 31st, the pop singer and some of his friends were seen in a tunnel in Bogota painting a graffiti along the walls of the tunnel. The singer and his friends were protected by the Colombian police.

Some of Bieber’s fans took video of what he was doing. Justin was not happy with the attitude of his fans. However, the police didn’t stop them when recording Justin, because of the press freedom rule valid in Colombia.

From my point of view, the singer wasn’t making something wrong because evidently before doing that, he talked to the Mayor and obtained permission to paint some walls. People were angry with the situation, because of the Colombian guy that some months ago was killed by the police because of painting walls all around Bogota. Was Justin doing something wrong? Should he be penalized?

Alexis Sanchez

alexis_sanchez

Ex Udinese player Alexis Sanchez is one of Barcelona’s most expensive transfers in history: US$43mill ion in 2011 after his impresive run of form in the world cup. “El niño Maravilla”,  as he is known in his hometown, Tocopilla, Chile, is on the run of his life scoring seven goals in this Liga BBVA season after only averaging 8-12 goals with Barcelona FC in all competitions, in his previous seasons.

Besides his poor form, in July he was rumored to be exiting the team going towards a premier league team. Honestly, I am glad for Alexis and I think all he needed was some time and a change in the team staff. I think he needed someone like el Tata Martino, ExNewell’s manager, to help him find his path in Spain. It is truly remarkable what a change of mentality can do when it comes to goal scoring.

Ronaldinho aims for the Libertadores

18copa-articleLarge

His full name is Ronaldo De Asis Moreira but he is also known as Ronaldinho. He is now 33 years old and he is a legend of soccer: in all teams that he has ever been, he was the best.

He always won a lot of trophies, but now in his actual club he wants to win one of the most important trophies of the world: the “Copa Libertadores” of South America.

Against Newell’s Old Boys, his team lost the first game in Argentina. But Ronaldinho never gives up; they beat them in penalties in the second match. Now, the final is against Olimpia, team which has won this competition 3 times before. Ronaldinho won a lot of things in Europe but he said that he wants to win this trophy because it isvery important to him and his career.

There will be two matches: the first one will be in Paraguay and then, in Brazil. The favorite is Ronaldinho’s club Atletico Mineiro. I hope Ronaldinho wins this trophy because he is amazing. I like very much how he plays. A lot of people said that he doesn’t have his magic anymore but I think he still is fantastic and he will win that important trophy to end his career.

Assassin’s Creed 4: which is better?

assassins_creed_4_black_flag_game-wide

Assassin’s Creed has only been out for a few days by now for the current-gen consoles, and some people would want to know what is the difference between the game in PS3 and PS4 (as to give an example). “Examiner” talked with Ashraf Ismail, the game producer from Ubisoft, to see which were the most representative details we might see between the two videogame consoles generations. One of them could be: “(…) on the next-gen the immersion is much deeper because we are able to push the visuals much more. On next-gen, when went go to a jungle we wanted the jungles to feel slightly oppressive (…)”

In my opinion, it depends on the point of view of the consumer which version is better. The gameplay looks pretty good, based on the trailer and people that already actually have gotten it throughout the internet. I really expect to buy the game to know what happens (and I’m gonna leave it right there, I’m not the “spoiler-type” guy).

Alfredo Di Stefano

Untitled-3

The 23 of September of 1953, Alfredo di Stefano was the first South American player to play in Real Madrid. In his first game, a friendly match against a French team at the Bernabeu stadium, he Argentine player scored the second goal in the match.

This was unexpected. Real won the first five editions of the European cup, they won eight Spanish leagues titles with Alfredo Di Stefano. He was a really good player that helped a lot to Real Madrid.

Di Stefano made 396 competitive appearances for Real Madrid, he scored 307 goals. He was the club all time record goal scorer, until Raul Gonzales came in 2009. Real Madrid will never forget Di Stefano. He had a nickname: “the blonde arrow”, because of the speed and mop of hair he had; the argentine is considered the finest player ever to wear the Real Madrid shirt.

In my opinion, Di Stefano can be the best Argentine player in history because he was the first Argentine player to play in Real Madrid. He played a lot of games with them and changed the way to see soccer in the world. Di Stefano is a legend and we should remember him because of the soccer player he was and the records he made.

A survivor

Nigeria_Rescue-0b187A man survives in the Atlantic Ocean 3 days after a boat sunk. The rescue divers after finding 3 dead bodies on the sea, saw what they think would be another dead body. But it was not: the diver took a big surprise when the body grabbed his hand. Harrison Odjegba Okene, a Nigerian cook, survived 3 days by breathing an oxygen supply in an air pocket.

Okene to this day claims that his rescue was due to a divine deliverance. Tony Walker, project manager for the Dutch company DCN Diving, said Okene wouldn’t have survived much longer, so they found him just on time.

At the moment, the boat sank when he was on the toilet, found some stuff like flashlights and a life vest when he found the air cabin he felt safe. He started getting very cold and he survived of a single bottle of coke. He started praying and after 3 days of surviving in very difficult conditions, the reward was hearing the voice of a diver say “Good job, my friend. Well done, you are a survivor.”

I think this is an excellent example of how human perseverance and hope can get you far. This can be also an example of how religion makes us stronger every day. You can be a believer or not, but you can see here how religion made this man strong enough to survive under the sea for 3 days.

Colombia’s weak defensive core

image (4)It is accurate to say that the key to be successful in a football tournament is a stable base of defenders. Colombia may not have the best one, but it does it’s job.

Colombia’s defensive core can be seen as a weak one due to its players. Mario Yepes and Luis Perea might not be the fastest and they can be overcame by a skillful and fast attacker. But Colombia’s manager, Jose Nestor Pekerman, has solved this serious problem with two magnificent players: Pablo Armero and Camilo Zuñiga. They have the fastness and skill to recover any ball and collaborate to initiate one of the most amazing and successful counterattack any National Team would fear today.

However, this might be a risk because Colombia just has a few players to replace these two should they get injured. Some people say Arias is the perfect candidate if Zuñiga gets hurt; or if Armero does, Zuñiga can change sides and give Arias his place, but I still think Pekerman has to realize he’s wasting great players like Zapata, Balanta and Aquivaldo, who are persistent in their respective teams and deserve a place at Colombia’s starting 11. With the World Cup coming up, he might have to watch for Colombian world class players to ensure a good performance in the tournament.

Crushed to death by dustcart

wheelie+bin

This article is about a guy from Canada who arrived in Bristol to study and on his first night in the city he got very drunk. He drank a lot of beer and some shots. After he left the bar he realized he was lost and he didn’t have a cell phone.

It was very cold and late, so he decided to sleep in a garbage bin instead of finding his way home and getting lost again. What he didn’t know is that later that night the garbage truck would pass by that street.

The garbage collectors did not notice his body asleep in the bin because they say their work is very monotonous, so they just emptied the bin in the truck and carried on with their job.

Only at dawn when they were emptying the truck when found the dead body of the student. I think this can happen anywhere, drunken people fall asleep everywhere and they can die accidentally by many factors like hypothermia, asphyxia etc.

“Same old Mourinho”

Frank Lampard Chelsea FC Record Goalscorer

Frank Lampard (born the 20th June 1978 in London) is a famous football player. He plays as a midfielder in the Chelsea football club of England.

In this article he talks about the famous football manager and former player, Jose Mourinho (born 26th January 1963 in Setubal). The first time he worked for the Chelsea football club as a manager was in 2004 and he worked until 2007. Today he is the manager of the Chelsea football club for the second time. However, many people believe that there is a difference between his first period and his second and actual period. In his first interval as a coach for this football club he was exceptional from every point of view. During these years he won the premier league for this football club. Working as a football manager he has helped many famous players like Didier Drogba, John Terry, Ricardo Carvalho and Frank Lampard.

Even though Mourinho’s first period at the Stanford Bridge was outstanding, after six years of his departure a lot of people are saying that he has changed and that he is not the same manager he was six years ago. Frank Lampard defends his manager by saying that “He is who he is. He used to get quite upset and quite vocal with a loss, but I always liked that about him because then you know where you are”. Lampard still believes in Mourinho and said that it’s an honor to work with the two-times champions league winner.

A terrible tragedy

iam_00024441t

The article 9/11 was a total tragedy for the city. Elise Cooper states that people died from a tiny thing that turned into a huge event. Families were in a total sadness. People said that they couldn’t believe what just happened and that it was heartbreaking to know there were people inside those buildings. They were beautiful buildings and the people inside were innocent. Their death happened in an extremely unfair way. With this article the author states that 9/11 was a memory which marked every person’s family in the city.

I think this is very touching and heartbreaking. I have never felt this sort of experience. I am very thankful that I have my family and feel very bad that this happened to our society. I think I can imagine how the people who lived the 9/11 feel.

One of the worst things a man can do

ad_119296772

Ryan Guntrip punched his girlfriend, Carina Mac Kay, when she was pregnant. On June 18th 2013, they were at Mac Kay’s house at Clacton, Essex and they were arguing. He told her he wished he’d never got her pregnant and then punched her in the stomach, the next morning she realized that she was bleeding and she went to the doctor to run some tests, and found out her baby was dead. Guntrip, who had a history of violence, admitted assault; he was on license because of previous attacks to people.

The court only gave him 16 weeks in jail because the doctors couldn’t prove that he was the cause of death of the baby, so they could only charge him for assaulting a woman. Carina said that the night of the assault he was drunk, throwing things everywhere. She also told the court that at the beginning of the relationship he was overprotective with her, and that he didn’t let his ex-girlfriend go anywhere near them. She described him like the best men, but that in time he became aggressive, especially when he was drunk.

The judge only accused him with assault to a woman and gave him 16 weeks, even though he could charge him for a longer time given his violence record, but he also gave him a restriction order to say away from Carina.

In my opinion he should have been charged with more time, given that he hit a woman and that he has got a record, proving that he has done it before. Hitting a woman is one of the worst things that a man can do, and he should not only get a restriction order but to pay her for the damage that he caused, physically and psychologically.

Neymar

neymar-barcelona-salary-top-best-player (1)

In 2011, there was a soccer game, where Neymar was playing with Brazil. When he won, he went to play with his team, Santos football team, with which he won the “Copa Santander Libertadores”. On December 2011, we was the winner of “La copa internacional de America” and played with “El Campeón de Europa (Barcelona)”. During the game the superiors of Barca´s team saw that Neymar made a good job, and all the abilities he had. So they decided that when Neymar would finish his work with Santos, he was going to be part of Barcelona´s team. Then, during this year, he played “La copa confederaciones” with Brazil, in which he made one of the three points that gave the victory to Brazil.  The most surprising fact is that he cost 57 million of euros.

My favorite hobbie is to play football, and my favorite player is Neymar. I think that he has some unique techniques that he uses to help the team to win. He shows us that group work is really important if you know how to do it. Besides, Neymar is a guy who has very clear goals, and he does everything to make them true.

BBM makes big change

andyios_142110584815_640x360_171539318402

Blackberry Company has revealed  that  BBM (Black Berry Messenger) will be downloadable for other devices different from Black Berry, such as Android devices and iOS 7 devices. Black Berry company also revealed that the release date of this amazing type of messaging is this next weekend. From that moment on, other electronic devices will be able to use BBM. This decision of the Black Berry company is due to the drop in sales. Nobody buys Blackberry anymore, and the company is in a bad situation.

I think it’s a really good decision, because so many people bought a Black Berry just for the Black Berry Messenger. Now everybody can use it,  so this is something good for the company. This may be very important for the communication industry. I invite you to download  BBM for your cellphones and try it out.

Buffon vs. Casillas

1382514190_extras_noticia_foton_7_1

These two goalkeepers have being facing each other for over ten years now. However, they are very good friends.

The first time that they faced each other was in 2002-03 in the Champions League semi-finals. After that, they have faced each other 12 more times. In the meantime, both of them have won a lot of awards and titles. Buffon won 34 individual awards and 14 titles while Casillas won 20 individual awards and 21 trophies.

In 2003 Buffon was voted the best goalkeeper in the world. Ten years later, the roles were reversed and Casillas was ahead of Buffon. This award has been shared by them: Casillas has won 5 and Buffon has won 4.

I think that these legends of football stand for what a good football player should be: fair both inside and outside of the field.

Jim Carrey rejects his own film

r-KICK-ASS-2-REVIEW-large570

Recently the known comedian and actor Jim Carrey decided not to participate in the premier of his latest movie “Kick Ass 2” arguing that: “I did KickAss a month ago before Sandy Hook and now in all good conscience I cannot support that level of violence… My apologies to other involved with the film, Iam not ashamed of it but recent events have coasted a change in my heart”.

From my point of view, this reaction is positive to the USA community. The movie definitely shows plenty of violent scenes that might invite people to accept bad behavior within communities. After all the tragedies that have occurred in the United States, especially those regarding violence in schools and streets and gun control policies, Jim Carrey’s reaction shows people that it might not be such a good idea to accept violence, even if it is  fictional.

“The pharaoh”

Stephan-El-Shaarawy-02

This young soccer player was born in Italy in 1992. His mother was Italian and his father Egyptian. That’s why his nickname is “The pharaoh”.

He started playing on Genova at 14 thanks to someone who saw his talent. Two years later, he was in the serie A team but couldn’t play much. However, he became on youngest player in serie A.

The next move was to Padova on 2010. The team of the serie B arrived to the final and el Sharaawy won the award for the best player of serie B.

Then he was called by A.C Milan at serie A. In his debut, the team lost 3-1 after replacing an injured player. He worked hard and improved considerably. Milan finished in third place in the 2011-2012 tournament.

El Sharaawy is an excellent soccer player, because of his fast dribbling, his agile technique and his precision when he strikes from outside of the box. But what stands out  the most of him is his ball control.

“It’s Colombia, not Columbia”

COLUMBIA

It is a common mistake, and that’s why a group of marketing experienced Colombians, with the government support, are making this campaign with phrases like “The coffee you drank this morning might be from Colombia; Your outerwear might have been made by Columbia.”

The Facebook page of the campaign already has 20,300 likes and is still growing. The only purpose of the campaign is not quite to correct the grammar error; it is to take advantage of this, so foreigners and local people may have a better image of the country. “People outside of Colombia, especially in the United States, have a wrong impression of what Colombia is” said Zemoga’s vice-president Carlos Prado (a Colombian digital services company in the U.S.).

Lots of U.S. people are still thinking that Colombia is only drugs, Pablo Escobar, etc. But now Colombia has taken big steps in economy, culture, etc. and drug cartels and violence are less every year. That’s what this campaign is trying to say.

Something ironic is that artists and famous people sometimes write in Twitter or Facebook comments like “I’m so excited, I’m traveling to Columbia”. What they don’t know is the correct name of the country they are traveling to.

Leonardo da Vinci: a different mind

leonardoI found this article about Leonardo da Vinci and it immediately caught my attention. Leonardo Da Vinci was one of the most creative engineers, scientists, famous painters and designers through 1.450 to 1.500.

This article talks about the life and work of da Vinci in a very brief way, which is encouraging for those of us who do not like to read a lot. I think this article focuses more on Leonardo’s paintings and art work, but also shows one of the most prominent inventions of Leonardo, which we still use today: the bicycle. His different, special mind was able to create amazing things that at that time nobody thought would exist.

This article about Leonardo is not quite  balanced: it talks much more about some things that others. But it still expresses a great amount of details that people might like to know.

Can Bale stand up to Cristiano Ronaldo?

bale1In his autobiography, Harry Redknapp explains that Bale should assert himself at Real Madrid by saying “His biggest test will be to step out of the shadow of Cristiano Ronaldo with confidence. That won’t be easy”. Gareth Bale has to stand up to Cristiano because if not he will be an €86m fringe player.

It could be a similar case to Kaka’s arrival to Real Madrid in 2.009 which wasn’t a successful time for a former world player of the year. In these four years Kaka lost his confidence, in my opinion, because if you are on the bench every single game you start to think “what’s wrong with me”?

Kaka probably didn’t assert himself on the team.

Kaka’s example shows what Gareth Bale shouldn’t do. It is important to maintain his confidence in order to be successful in Real Madrid. to achieve this, he should find the balance with Cristiano so they can both play in the same team at their best levels together.

Ronaldinho wants Paris Saint Germain

PSG_RonaldinhoRonaldinho should end his career at a big club because he still has a lot of potential. It would be an honor similar to David Beckham retiring at Paris Saint Germain.

And as a matter of fact, Ronaldinho wants to go to Paris Saint Germain because he has history there. It was his first big club in Europe and it was an important step to move then to FC Barcelona, where he played his best football. In this time with Barca, he won the FIFA World Player of the year award, two Spanish leagues and a UCL title.

I think it would be good for Paris Saint Germain to see Ronaldinho end his career with them, because of his football history with the club. Besides, it would be good publicity for the club as he is an ambassador of good football and a very fair and loved player with a great personality.

Play football or study?

6104208-a-close-up-of-some-books-on-green-grass-with-a-soccer-ball-and-fall-leaves

The article talks about the problem with sports and academic responsibilities at the same time. The text explains that there is a big problem with the boys in high schools with soccer and their high school competition. These boys aren’t paying attention to the classes because they are only focusing on their soccer training and nothing else.

Kids have to make a decision about the sport that they practice and their study. In addition, Hussey says in the article that it is a difficult situation because kids are only managing to do one thing at a time. The solution that the author tries to propose is to figure out a way that kids can do both.

This is a big problem because, in my opinion, boys cannot do both. We cannot play soccer perfectly and have high scores at school. I think that we should focus on the soccer after finishing high school, but not while in it. The best solution to this problem is to encourage boys to be excited about soccer but focus on their study.

Don’t take insults seriously

_69139877_smith

Hannah Smith killed herself after cyber bullying on Ask.fm.

Ask.fm is a page where the users create an account and whoever wants to, can ask anonymously question. However, sometimes people just give insults.

Ask.fm allows parents and users to report cases of bullying. They actually say that every report is checked by them. Hannah’s dad said that he saw the abuse to her daughter and nobody did a thing. He created a Facebook group to pressure to close this social network or, at least, avoid that people ask questions anonymously.

I don’t quite agree with the Facebook group. They cannot close a excellent social network just because a girl takes too seriously the questions she’s being asked. I think they just have to create new policies, for example, that people have to be over 15 to create an account.

I think this page is cool. I used to have an account and it’s fun, even if I received insults too from time to time. The difference is I never took them seriously because they’re made by anonymously people, so I don’t care.

Federer is the greatest of all time

21-federer-steinberger-blog480

Some people say that Roger Federer is the greatest of all time because of many reasons. For example, he claimed 17 grand slams, spent over 300 weeks as the No. 1 ranked player since 2004 until 2008 and dethroned Pete Sampras as the greatest player of all time.

However, later on Rafael Nadal came to make his life hard. The Spaniard is the third tennis player in the all-time grand slams winners with 13 grand slams. Also, he has a winner record against Federer so people may be confused about who the greatest of all time is.

But is Roger Federer really the greatest of all time?  The answer is YES, not only because of his achievements but also because of the elegance and finesse that he shows in all of his matches. Now, if Nadal stays healthy maybe he can level Roger’s records, or even overpass them.

I agree with the author of the article, because he gives many reasons to say that Federer is the greatest of all time, even if he then says that Nadal could eventually overpass him. My opinion is that any player could be like Federer because if you want something, you just go for it.

Grand Theft Auto 5: $800 million in 24 hours

v_trunk_2880x1800_large_verge_medium_landscape

The majority of young gamers knew that this would happen. What is curious is that a game so violent and hated by parents is such a good business for the people of Rockstar Games. Grand Theft Auto is a game where one is a fictional character working for mafias, committing crimes and theft. This game not only is characterized by that, it also contains cars, planes, boats and many more artifacts from daily life.

According to media, this game has generated in their first 24 hours, more than $800 million dollars, beating Call of Duty Black Ops 2, a game that came out last year, generating a turnover of $500 million in 24 hours.

In my opinion, it makes no sense that people worry more for how violent this game is, instead of thinking about how our world is filled with such tragic things. I’m not saying not to let kids play, nor that the game should be banned. Just keep in mind that life is more than just video games.

Michelle Obama hacked

the-nsa-trained-edward-snowden-to-be-an-elite-hacker

This article is about a web page in the United States that stole very private information from famous people: the president’s wife, famous actors, singers and politicians. The hackers stole social security numbers and other things to sell it to other people for very little money.

The FBI is investigating how they could have stolen this information, and how are they going to use it. The web page is now closed but the investigation continues.

In my opinion I think nothing is safe now, and even information from a computer can be stolen by anyone. That’s why is very important to protect your identity and the passwords of your accounts, but even if you do, these hackers can access your information and steal even the money you have in your bank account.

A lion with clear goals

WP-Nadal-620x400

After a knee injury that put him away for seven months, from the thing he loves the most, playing tennis, Nadal returned to play like a lion!  At the U.S OPEN 2013, he demonstrated to be within the top tennis players in the world. He won the U.S OPEN 2013 in New York against Novak Djokovic. This is his 13 grand slam.

Once again, Nadal showed his talent and personality in playing tennis, his tenacity and capability of reaching his goals.

In my opinion Nadal is one of the best tennis players in the world. He has demonstrated that having clear goals in life is very important, even he has to face health problems many times in his sport career, he always works very hard and gets great results.

Beware of cell phones

cellcan3

It used to be a paradigm that the excessive use of cell phones is associated with developing people´s brain cancer. After extensive specialists research, they have found that this paradigm is not true anymore.

What they found is that radiation that cell phones produce can have a bad effect for people’s health, especially in kids because they have thinner skulls. So this means that kids absorbed more cell phone radiation to their heads than adults. They said it’s in a proportion 2 to 1, and 3 to 1 in their hippocampus and hypothalamus. They also found greater radiation in children´s eyes, this is amazing!!! 10 times more in children than adults.

So what I learned from reading this article is: using technology is great but we have to do it carefully for the radiation that we can get and also for our hands because we can end up with tendonitis.

Parents with kids must have certain rules about using cell phones. In my opinion this article is very interesting because it makes us aware of the risks of using cell phones. We must use them in a proper way because technology is good but can cause us some health problems.

Blackberry: unable to adapt

_67600230_bbmvoice

The struggling smartphone maker has agreed to be bought by its bigger shareholder Fairfax Financial Holdings Limited that owns the 10% of the company by the price of 9 dollars a stock being 4.7 billion dollars in total for all the other shareholders who own 90% of the company, but Blackberry is still considering other options while doing the negotiations with Fairfax.

On the last Friday, Blackberry announced 4500 job cuts due the poor sales of their new smartphone: the Z10, it caused losses of about one billion dollars to the Canadian company.

Fairfax has stated that once they have the total control of the company they will reorganize the whole company and begin a new chapter of the company without being under the glare of the Wall Street investors.

This is a classic example of a company that couldn’t adjust to the newer times. Blackberry had their golden time in 2007 and 2008 when the Blackberry Curve flooded the market when the iPhone was still in diapers. They succeeded with their simple concept and their functionality, but the years passed and the iPhone and the Samsung Galaxy became really popular because of their higher technology and their revolutionary concept, while Blackberry stayed with the same software and Hardware only with a couple of small improvements. By the time Blackberry released a smartphone that could compete with the ones from Apple, Samsung and Microsoft, it was already too late, because the the whole market was completely taken by the competion. This made the sales of the Z10 really low and caused a huge crisis on the company because of the huge investment that they did on the Z10.

Too much money just for one person?

Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo is the best paid soccer player in the world. He recently signed a deal with Real Madrid worth $206 million. The contract will keep Ronaldo with the team until 2020.To celebrate, he scored three goals in a game against a team from Turkey on Tuesday. It looks like Ronaldo is earning his money.

I think that this is too much money just for one person. All this money could be used to help the world ―although he does have a foundation to help poor kids and some part of this money is going to be used to help people.

The good part is that Real Madrid is going to have one of the best players in the world for seven more years.

Actions against violence

policiaviolencia

The European Union demanded that the government of Morocco avoids the use of extreme violence against the protesters. This violence has injured dozens of people. The police used batons against civilians and the Government was doing a call for attention to their police forces.

The EU has urged the Government of Morocco to continue with the reforms and requested all the parties to engage in peaceful dialog in order to find solutions. I’m glad that actions will be taken against this terrible violence.

In the interview he was asked about how it feels to play with Messi and in Barcelona. They asked him too some questions about playing in his national team, Brazil, and in his old team Santos FC.

Neymar is one of the best players in the world. He is young, he wants to make history at the club and I think he is going to do it.

iPhone 5S

With the iPhone 5s, Apple once again wins the right to claim the title of best smartphone available. The hardware may resemble its predecessor in many key ways, as with the 4-inch Retina display, but it improves dramatically in areas like the camera where it makes the most difference to every day users, and in the addition of the fingerprint sensor, which is already a feature I miss when I switch back to older generation devices or the iPhone 5c. And thanks to the 64-bit A7 processor, this phone, more than any iPhone before it, is likely to be the device that grows more appealing as the software ecosystem catches up, which is great news for buyers looking for something that isn’t so easily replaced by the next big thing that comes along.

colorware-iphone-5-xl

In my opinion, Apple has design an elegant and very fast Smartphone with this iPhone 5S, in terms of efficiency because it not only doubles the power but also the speed of its predecessors. This Model has the potential to be the most technological iPhone. Since the first Iphone generation, we see that advantages that offer this new model and the technology is amazing in terms of its principal characteristics, such as the reader of fingerprints, the improvements of the photo and video Camera and in the presence of a processor of 64 bit, and a coprocessor M7, in my opinion this the best Smartphone will be in the market.
