The antenna doesn’t count

willis-tower-590x829

This article talks about the World Trade Center, which was ruled as the tallest building in the U.S.A. This has created a big polemic in Chicago, because the tallest building used to be the Willis Tower. People in Chicago say that the roof of the World Trade Center was 100 feet lower than the Chicago’s tower. It is only taller because of the antenna.

Also the people of Chicago are saying: “At the Willis Tower, you have a panoramic view that is unmatched. You can’t get a view like that from an antenna.” So what they’re saying is that the antenna is useless. On the other hand, the argument of the New York people is that the antenna gets better audio.

I think that the antenna does not have anything to do with the height of the building. Also, what the Chicagoans are saying about the view of the roof is a pretty strong argument. In conclusion, I think the Willis building is actually taller than the World Trade Center.

Don’t fight: celebrate

In the last month, a few people were killed just because they were on the street with the T-shirt of their football team. Apparently, they got into a fight with fans from another team and ended up dead.

I think that we don’t have to fight because of we’re from different teams. We have to live football in peace and be happy of the fact that Colombia is finally going to a World Cup after 15 years.

In this video they show how people in Colombia are scared of football fans who kill people just because of their T-shirt color. It also shows a good joke around a tragic subject.

Zlatan and Cristiano Ronaldo

Ronaldo.Zlatan_crop_north

Ronaldo and Ibrahimovic are two of the best soccer players in the world. They are going to play for a spot in the FIFA World Cup and it is unbelievable that one of this players will miss Brazil next year.

Zlatan plays for Paris Saint Germaine and for Sweden, his country. Zlatan usually does amazing goals and he is the star of both of his teams and one of the best strikers in the world.

Ronaldo plays for Real Madrid and for Portugal, and although his country team has a lot of good players, they don’t play really good together. In less than a few weeks, we will see how to giants will fight each other for what it is just one spot in the most important soccer tournament.

Beyond doubt, both of them are incredible players. Ibrahimovic is, in my opinion, the best middle striker in the moment. But still, Cristiano is now living what I think is the best moment in his entire career. After all, I really believe that Ronaldo deserves to go to the World Cup.

Counting Stars

This song is interpreted by One Republic and it appears in their Album “Native”. One Republic is an American band, also known by songs like Secrets, Good Life, etc. The band is composed by Ryan Tedder, Zach Filkins, Drew Brown Eddie Fisher, Brent Kutzle; their music genre is Pop Rock and it was formed in 2003. This song was a great international success and it’s even used in The Voice in USA.

Ryan Tedder, the composer of the song, said that before he was famous, he was struggling to get enough money. He also said that he expected to get to the point where he would be able to stop counting money and instead, start counting something else, like stars. That’s why the lyrics are so good, they are quite poetical, the same as the rhythm that makes you want to hear the song many times. I really recommend you to listen to this song and try to understand how the composer felt.

Cristiano Ronaldo to open a museum

1385069690_extras_noticia_foton_7_0

Cristiano Ronaldo Dosantos was born on February the 5th, 1985, in Santo António, Portugal. He is having his best season ever, both at club level and with his national team. In 2008, he won the Ballon d’Or and scored 67 goals in 56 games. Ronaldo also has won two Golden Boots, in 2008 and 2011. He is one of the favorites for the 2013 best player award. As a super star he will open a museum in which he will show all of his individual trophies like the Ballon d’Or and the Golden Boots. The museum will be located in Funchal, the capital of Madeira Islands.

In my opinion, the Cristiano Ronaldo museum should be located in Madrid, because Real Madrid FC is the team where he has played his best soccer. I also think that Cristiano deserves to win again the the Ballon d’Or because he is not only the most complete player in the world and the top sccorer in the LFP Aand the Champions League, but a wonderful person who helps many poor people year by year.

Unfairly shot

This article is about two men in a small town at the south of England who were practicing “parkour”, a new sport which consists in jumping from building to building, staircases, and other urban architecture items in order to move through and among them as fluent as possible.

£££Freerunners-shot-2683538

These two men were climbing a scaffolding next to a building which was under construction, in order to jump from this building to another. When they were doing this one of the workers working in the construction saw them and thought they were thiefs trying to rob the building, which is a shop. The man’s reaction was to get his riffle and shoot them thinking they were going to steal something.

When the two men heard the shots, they asked the worker to stop shooting, but he continued with the certainty they were thieves.

The worker was arrested and taken to court where the judge said his attitude was irresponsible and he should have called the police instead of shooting. The man was given a custodial sentence.

I think this happens in Colombia every day. Here there is a lot violence and the people want to protect their things. The problem is that most of the time, people climbing walls and getting on the roofs of houses are really criminals, robbers who can kill people to get what they want, and many times the people who just want to defend their belonging are sent to jail unfairly.

Island of garbage

Floating-debris-MAIN-2678181

There is a very big island of garbage that is floating on the ocean and is approaching the state of California in the United States. This island of garbage is the result of the tsunami of 2011 in Japan, which devastated several towns and cities. After the tsunami, the water took away houses, cars, boats, and many other things which are now going to the surface of the ocean, and moving with the waves to other places of the world, like California.

Scientist and citizens are worried about the effects this can have in the environment of the west cast in U.S. but there is not much they can do by now until the island of garbage gets to the coast.

Scientists say this island is bigger than Britain and that it weights thousands of tons.

I think this can affect very seriously the North American country. They’re already very polluted with its own garbage and now they are going to get garbage from another continent. However, in this particular case it’s not their fault.

Lebron James

He was born in Akron, Ohio on December 30, 1984 . He made a team with a friend of his neighborhood, which was the best of the nation.

LeBron was always the leader of the team; he was the heart of it. Some time passed and LeBron and the team grew. When LeBron was only 19 years old, he signed a contract with Nike for 90 million dollars and he started playing for the Cleveland Cavaliers. LeBron played in this team for 7 years.

In 2007 the Cavaliers went to the final of this tournament for the first time. He made something that no one had done before, but the Cavaliers lost this final against the San Antonio Spurs.

In the next 2 years, LeBron stole the heart of the fans of Cleveland Cavaliers. He scored many points in his career, and his average was of 28 points per game during the 7 years he was in this team. But in the year 2010 he finished the contract with the Cavaliers and went to the Miami Heat.

He has achieved many different things in this team, like getting to the finals in 2007 and winning two championships. I think he is a really good player and the Cavaliers will never forget him.

Video games are not the problem

violent-video-game

The debate on the prohibition of violent games for minors has caused many discussions.

Though the ERSB system of qualification for games is good, it has not stopped the purchases of this type of games for children.

When in 2003, Gentile and Anderson made this study, their conclution was that all type of violent games cause in one way or another aggressive actions and reactions on young people under 18 years old.

One American doctor assures that this kind of games can distort the way children act and confuses them since the games reward players while doing incorrect acts.

In my opinion, children’s behavior is not only their responsibility, it is also an adults matter. Parents are children’s guide and example, and if they don’t pay attention to the small details, their children can always walk the wrong way. If adults teach children the right way, they can play any kind of game without taking dangerous risks.

Se7en

Se7en is a thriller genre and black film about the 7 deadly sins. This story is based on a decadent, sad city, where it rains most of the time. The homicide detective William. R. (Morgan Freeman), is about to retire as a partner is assigned a young detective David Mills (Brad Pit).

The story turns around a serial murderer who seems to be choosing his victims according to the seven deadly sins of the Catholic Church: gluttony, sloth, lust, greed, pride, envy and wrath.

The movie is very good because the plot tumbles and the heroes of the story turn out to be something else. I would grade it a score of 90 out of 100.

Arjen Robben scores a goal in a final

In this video they show how one of the best players of the world scores a goal in the UEFA Champions League final. The goal was in the 89th minute of the match, giving him the championship.

Robben used to be a player who didn’t score in any final he play in. For example, the World Cup final with Netherlands against Spain, or the UCL final of 2012…

Finally he did score in a final. Not only that, but he gave the title to his team, Bayern Munich.

Electronic Entertainment Expo in LA

microsoft-xbox-one-e3-2013,M-X-388329-13

The next year’s E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo), will take place in the LA Convention Center, in Los Angeles, as the one this year. The reason why the Expo will be held in the same city is because it was a complete success, gathering 48,200 game industry professionals, analysts, journalists and retailers from 102 countries, and generating nearly $40 million dollars for the city. The next E3 will be between June 10 and 12.

In my opinion, it will be interesting and exciting to see which games they will release in next year’s second semester and 2015’s first semester. It will be a great time for Nintendo, who will be releasing lots of games in that period of time, but also for the other franchises because of their new consoles’ releases.

Double backflip by Travis Pastrana

On this video you can see Travis Pastrana doing a double backflip. Travis did the double backflip in 2006 in the X games tournament. He had never won a gold medal before.

He set two records: he won his first medal in the X games competition. He also did a trick that nobody had done before. This trick was thought for bicycles, but Travis worked a lot on this trick and he did it.

In my opinion, this guy is an idol for the freestyle drivers and for everybody because he did a trick that nobody had ever done before. With this, he teaches us a lesson: you can do anything you want, everything is possible.

Should Justin Bieber be penalized?

url

Last Tuesday, the Canadian singer, Justin Bieber, began his Believer tour in the Colombian capital, Bogota.

In October 31st, the pop singer and some of his friends were seen in a tunnel in Bogota painting a graffiti along the walls of the tunnel. The singer and his friends were protected by the Colombian police.

Some of Bieber’s fans took video of what he was doing. Justin was not happy with the attitude of his fans. However, the police didn’t stop them when recording Justin, because of the press freedom rule valid in Colombia.

From my point of view, the singer wasn’t making something wrong because evidently before doing that, he talked to the Mayor and obtained permission to paint some walls. People were angry with the situation, because of the Colombian guy that some months ago was killed by the police because of painting walls all around Bogota. Was Justin doing something wrong? Should he be penalized?

Assassin’s Creed 4: which is better?

assassins_creed_4_black_flag_game-wide

Assassin’s Creed has only been out for a few days by now for the current-gen consoles, and some people would want to know what is the difference between the game in PS3 and PS4 (as to give an example). “Examiner” talked with Ashraf Ismail, the game producer from Ubisoft, to see which were the most representative details we might see between the two videogame consoles generations. One of them could be: “(…) on the next-gen the immersion is much deeper because we are able to push the visuals much more. On next-gen, when went go to a jungle we wanted the jungles to feel slightly oppressive (…)”

In my opinion, it depends on the point of view of the consumer which version is better. The gameplay looks pretty good, based on the trailer and people that already actually have gotten it throughout the internet. I really expect to buy the game to know what happens (and I’m gonna leave it right there, I’m not the “spoiler-type” guy).

Through the Never

In this video we can see the trailer of the movie of Metallica. This concert was in Canada. I like it very much because the songs are so good.

Something amazing in the video is that it shows something different about each song. For example, in “Master of Puppets” some crosses appear in the scenario, the same that appear on the album. The images go perfectly with the songs, and that makes the show emotional and entertaining. I really recommend this movie. Hope you’ll like it.

Stupid girls

The video is about girls who are only focused in their sexuality and what other people think of them. Girls that get plastic surgeries and have serious problems with how they look. Actually this is what Pink is trying to say in the song. She appears in the video playing the role of each different type of girl: the ones who care and those that don’t. The video shows the girls that have expectations for life, but that don’t do a thing at all because they are women, and they have to be as society wants them to be. Because of this, most of them change.

Pink has valid reasons to do make this video. Today, society has a prototype of how girls have to be. Actually she talks of girls that grow up, thinking in a way that don’t permit them do anything with their lifes. The examples of women shown in the video is real, and I think that girls shouldn’t act like that because they are wasting the time of their life, thinking only on how they look and what others think about them, like if there were no other reasons to live.

Alfredo Di Stefano

Untitled-3

The 23 of September of 1953, Alfredo di Stefano was the first South American player to play in Real Madrid. In his first game, a friendly match against a French team at the Bernabeu stadium, he Argentine player scored the second goal in the match.

This was unexpected. Real won the first five editions of the European cup, they won eight Spanish leagues titles with Alfredo Di Stefano. He was a really good player that helped a lot to Real Madrid.

Di Stefano made 396 competitive appearances for Real Madrid, he scored 307 goals. He was the club all time record goal scorer, until Raul Gonzales came in 2009. Real Madrid will never forget Di Stefano. He had a nickname: “the blonde arrow”, because of the speed and mop of hair he had; the argentine is considered the finest player ever to wear the Real Madrid shirt.

In my opinion, Di Stefano can be the best Argentine player in history because he was the first Argentine player to play in Real Madrid. He played a lot of games with them and changed the way to see soccer in the world. Di Stefano is a legend and we should remember him because of the soccer player he was and the records he made.

Rogerio Ceni is awesome

Rogerio Ceni is a Brazilian goalkeeper. He is 40 years old, and he scored 112 goals in his life, which is amazing for a goalkeeper. He plays in Sao Paulo, and he was Brazil´s goalkeeper some years before.

I think that it is really amazing when a goalkeeper scores 112 goals. That shows that the goalkeepers not only have to be in the area, but they also can score goals and that is admirable.

Football is changing permanently, so it is important that the players discover new styles of play.  That way, football will improve in all the matches.

The conclusion is that he is one of the most important goalkeepers of the history.  He is a different goalkeeper. He is more special that the other players. Rogerio Ceni is a goalkeeper who scored more goals than some players who play in the position of midfielders or even in the front. That is just awesome.

The other Falcao

This video shows some football skills performed by a footsal player from Brazil called Falcao. I think it’s great because this sport is harder than normal soccer, because it is played in a hard-court and the ball is heavier.

Also, this video is great because Falcao shows many tricks with the ball during a soccer match. The video shows Falcao juggling with his head and feet.

This video captures Falcao at his peak. It shows a moment in time when he was the best footsal player in the world. People considered him as the King of the footsal.

I invite you to watch this video and make your own opinion. Is it Falcao the King of footsal?

Ronaldo the phenomenon

In this video you can admire one of the best football players in history playing on all of his teams: Cruzeiro (Brazil), PSV (Holland),FC Barcelona (Spain), Inter de Milan (Italy), Real Madrid (Spain), and Corinthians (Brazil).

When I finished watching this, I was able to appreciate his great ability to make tunnels. He’s like the king of tunnels. This is a long video, but if you watch you will get to see a special player, a magician with a magnificent dribbling. Ronaldo used 9 shirts and was awarded with two Golden Ball awards in 1997 and 2002, FIFA’s best player in 1996, 1997 and 2002, mayor goal scorer in the World Cup, tying Pele! I look up at him as an Idol, I admire him.

Colombian talent

This video is special because it shows some typical music, cultures and places from Colombia. It was filmed in many places of the country, from indigenous zones to Bogota’s downtown and everyone is singing one song at the same time. The song is produced by an NGO (non-govermental organization) called Playing for Change that has been producing songs all around the world and the only song filmed in just one country is this one, in Colombia.

I think that this is a very interesting video because it is made by a famous international organization that showed interest in our country, to show Colombian talent to the world through music.

Crushed to death by dustcart

wheelie+bin

This article is about a guy from Canada who arrived in Bristol to study and on his first night in the city he got very drunk. He drank a lot of beer and some shots. After he left the bar he realized he was lost and he didn’t have a cell phone.

It was very cold and late, so he decided to sleep in a garbage bin instead of finding his way home and getting lost again. What he didn’t know is that later that night the garbage truck would pass by that street.

The garbage collectors did not notice his body asleep in the bin because they say their work is very monotonous, so they just emptied the bin in the truck and carried on with their job.

Only at dawn when they were emptying the truck when found the dead body of the student. I think this can happen anywhere, drunken people fall asleep everywhere and they can die accidentally by many factors like hypothermia, asphyxia etc.

He likes to make videos like this and make people laugh. A terrible tragedy

iam_00024441t

The article 9/11 was a total tragedy for the city. Elise Cooper states that people died from a tiny thing that turned into a huge event. Families were in a total sadness. People said that they couldn’t believe what just happened and that it was heartbreaking to know there were people inside those buildings. They were beautiful buildings and the people inside were innocent. Their death happened in an extremely unfair way. With this article the author states that 9/11 was a memory which marked every person’s family in the city.

I think this is very touching and heartbreaking. I have never felt this sort of experience. I am very thankful that I have my family and feel very bad that this happened to our society. I think I can imagine how the people who lived the 9/11 feel.

The title of this song is “Pursuit Of Happiness”. It was written by Kid Cudi who decided to make a remix with Steve Aoki. It is an electronic song.

I really like this song. It talks about a person that  doesn’t care about anything and who likes to be drunk and high. But this person is also on pursuit of happiness. One of the worst things a man can do

ad_119296772

Ryan Guntrip punched his girlfriend, Carina Mac Kay, when she was pregnant. On June 18th 2013, they were at Mac Kay’s house at Clacton, Essex and they were arguing. He told her he wished he’d never got her pregnant and then punched her in the stomach, the next morning she realized that she was bleeding and she went to the doctor to run some tests, and found out her baby was dead. Guntrip, who had a history of violence, admitted assault; he was on license because of previous attacks to people.

The court only gave him 16 weeks in jail because the doctors couldn’t prove that he was the cause of death of the baby, so they could only charge him for assaulting a woman. Carina said that the night of the assault he was drunk, throwing things everywhere. She also told the court that at the beginning of the relationship he was overprotective with her, and that he didn’t let his ex-girlfriend go anywhere near them. She described him like the best men, but that in time he became aggressive, especially when he was drunk.

The judge only accused him with assault to a woman and gave him 16 weeks, even though he could charge him for a longer time given his violence record, but he also gave him a restriction order to say away from Carina.

In my opinion he should have been charged with more time, given that he hit a woman and that he has got a record, proving that he has done it before. Hitting a woman is one of the worst things that a man can do, and he should not only get a restriction order but to pay her for the damage that he caused, physically and psychologically.

NACH

This song was composed by NACH, a rapper from Spain. He is one of the best rappers from that country, but before being called NACH, he was known as SCRATCH.

The song and lyrics talks about going to heaven as our dream. Imagine that there is no discrimination, there is no hate, no wars, just peace, regardless of color of the skin or our beliefs, we are all the same in heaven.

In my opinion, this is the best song he has composed. NACH, in general, is a good singer.

Lavender Town Syndrome

This strange song theme appears in the games of Pokémon Red and Pokémon Green in Japan. It was created based on a rare illness and the horrible suicides of children between 7 and 12 years old, back in the 1996. First there were rumours ―which then became theories― saying that this theme music appears in the Lavender Town in those games. The music had extremely high frequencies that only children of that age could hear, because their ears are more sensible.

Almost two hundred children committed suicide (usually they did it by hanging themselves or jumping from enormous heights) after having developed all sorts of illnesses and afflictions. Those who didn`t commit suicide complained of strong headaches, supposedly for listening to the Lavender Town’s theme.

It’s difficult to describe this lugubrious song, because once you read this information it’s difficult not to think that you could jump out a window of a building. Most of the comments about this song say that after listening to the music, it stays in the head.  But some people say it is just a fake tale.

Anyway, is it real? Who knows? And most importantly, are you capable of listening to it? I invite you to try this Beta Version of the Lavender Town and make your own opinion.
